A desperation heave from midfield, a lucky bounce off the stick of Cretin-Derham Hall goaltender Eddie Kielkopf '23 and an improbable goal with two seconds left in regulation extended Eagan's 2023 season but it couldn't save it.

Joey Henningsgard's '24 goal 90 seconds into the fourth overtime that lifted Cretin-Derham Hall to a 9-8 victory that sent the Raiders to next week's state tournament for the first time in program history.

The end-of-regulation goal seemingly gave Eagan, seeking its first state tournament berth since it won a state title in 2018, all the momentum heading into overtime. But the Raiders' defense held on long enough for Henningsgard's goal to clinch the victory. Cretin-Derham Hall (10-6) had lost its last two regular season games but enters the state tournament on a three-game win streak.

Louie Bailey '23 had four goals and Jack Murphy '24 added two for the Raiders.
